Project Goals
Stacked duplexes are not new, but this duplex is the first of its kind. Its solar grid, triple-pane UV-filtering windows, ERVs and heat pump water heaters, and new foundation system make it incredibly energy efficient. This prototype duplex and detached garage ADU were pulled from a series of pre-approved housing plans approved by the City of Kalamazoo.

This detached ADU contains all the same technologies as the duplex. Economically and energy efficient, this style of development is not just smart; its an essential approach for every development moving forward.
