North Texas Development
Our work in North Dallas and Denton is in collaboration with local developer Monte Anderson. Our current projects include the Wheatland Plaza development, an adaptive reuse and mixed-use project that will bring community and economic growth to Wheatland, TX.
Texas Middle Scale Housing
Due to climate conditions, regulatory standards, and local architectural tradition, Texas needs a specific kind of middle scale housing. We work to expand upon and improve current housing standards, imagining a more walkable and climate-sensitive Texas.
Wheatland Plaza
Redevelopment
The Wheatland Plaza is a sustainable mixed-use project consisting of the rehab of the existing shopping center and addition of housing. Added sidewalks, trees, and a green plaza makes this aging shopping mall a thriving, walkable, and people-forward center of the community.
Wheatland Plaza Residential
The housing will offer 18 new construction townhomes in the excess parking lot. These all electric townhomes will provide new construction housing at a reasonable “starter home” price point.
Denton Duplex Courts
Denton Area Housing Corporation (DAHC) is a community development corporation building new construction housing in Denton County, TX.
This 2 acre project contains 23 500 SF units, arranged in multiple duplex courtyards.
Sustainability in Texas
Taking lessons from other Electric Housing projects, Wheatland will push the boundaries of mixed-use building sustainability. We’ve implemented a rainwater harvesting system, which will manage stormwater, mitigate drought, and reduce the need for potable water. Additionally, a rooftop solar PV and backup battery will reduce utility bills and increase power reliability. Together, these systems vastly improve energy cost and efficiency in this hot, southern climate.
